The Project Expeditor will be responsible for expediting, logistics coordination, administration and supply chain support of solar PV EPC projects in South Africa, the position is regarded as a skilled expediting role. Reporting to the Global Operations Director (EMEA/APAC) – PM and O&M, the Project Expeditor will support the Supply Chain Manager; Project Manager and Construction Manager as directed.

Your contribution to the energy transition

Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Monitor and report suppliers and subcontractors procurement and manufacturing activities and deliverables in accordance with the contract and project schedule.
  • Primary interface between logistics/ transport companies and project sites.
  • Provide inbound shipping information to construction site personnel relating to anticipated delivery dates, photos of load, rigging, offloading and storage requirements.
  • Setup “track and trace” documents for all equipment deliveries from point of departure to project sites
  • Ensure all contractual acceptance/ delivery requirements are achieved in accordance with delivery milestones.
  • Work in conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager to schedule supplier/ subcontractor technical, quality, progress meetings for projects.
  • In conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager, compile and maintain registers of all supplier/ subcontractor audits and manufacture inspections within the project folder.
  • Work in conjunction with Supply Chain Manager and Project Quality Officer to draw up a register for pre-execution supplier quality audits and follow on criteria.
  • Perform production status & quantity audits at supplier’s facilities and project sites as required.
  • Support the Supply Chain Manager and Project Quality Officer to draw up a register for third party testing of applicable project components at local third-party testing laboratories.
  • Arrange incoming and outgoing quantity and quality inspections.
  • Prepare weekly/ monthly manufacture and logistics status reports.
  • Support Supply Chain Manager with product related damage and insurance claims.
  • Perform administrative and procurement tasks as directed by the Supply Chain Manager

You impress us with these qualifications:
  • Relevant qualification
  • At least 2 years expediting / logistics experience in a similar role at comparable level
  • Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures and policies
  • Demonstrable ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate in a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and organise own workload including multi-tasking
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, MS Word, Power Point, Excel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to take initiative and organise effectively
  • Team player
  • Problem solving skills
 
Desirable Attributes: 
  • Experience of working within a project, logistics or construction environment
  • Exposure to contracts
  • Solar PV experience would be an advantage
  • Fluent in English
 
Other: 
  • Regular travel may be required in line with business requirements
  • In addition to the duties mentioned above, the job holder is required to carry out other duties that are in essence part of his area of activity, according to his/ her knowledge and abilities.
